Seth Muir
After High School in England and Maine, Seth spent three years traveling around the United States hiking and camping in 47 states before moving to Colorado where the snowboarding blew him away. For three years he was a Copper Mountain regular and hiked and snowmobiled to remote passes across Colorado and Wyoming searching for adrenaline, fluffy snow and wilderness hospitality. Eventually attending CU Boulder and getting a BA in Geography encouraged his drive to travel and his love of Earth Science. Speaking conversational Spanish, his next journey was to Spain. Returning enthused, he started a journey south through Central America to Costa Rica. He then took a year to return by land and included a three month study of Belizean Marine Biology and Hydrology. Falling for the culture, South America was next. After a summer of saving in the Colorado Rockies, he headed out for four months hiking in the Andes and Amazon regions. Finally back in the USA, Seth set out to find work that satisfied his love of adventure, outdoor activity, earth sciences, and his desire to work with at-risk youth. Hired as a Naturalist and guide in Mendocino, the next four springs and summers were spent living deep in the Redwoods in a cabin and leading hikes, kayak trips, ropes courses and naturalist camps for urban kids and adults. A short stint with the Marine Science Institute introduced him to the Bay Area and he was hooked by the accessibility and diversity of both urban and wilderness experiences. Tahoe beckoned and a winter was spent taking at-risk youth on snowboarding trips and mentoring local Hispanic kids at a youth center. Finally, leaving Mendocino for the thrill of the big city has brought him to the Bay Area where he has joined the Absolute Adventures team. He's really excited about sharing stories and adventures with the awesome people of Absolute Adventures. "Let's go!"
